Day 67 - B To The P, Booooooy!

There's not too much of interest to report today. I got my things in order (including burning another CD) in Prague yesterday and hit the train station early this morning. I couldn't get to sleep. I blame Dan Brown. A guy from my dorm (a super cool guy, by the way) gave me Angels and Demons to read. I haven't read The Da Vinci Code, but I can't guess they're much different. Countless conspiracies, brutal killings and lots of basically accurate info about religion and science. It's a good read and helped the eight hour train ride go faster. I'm almost done with it, actually, and considering I'm feeling that familiar tickle in my throat, it may be a good time to grub, read, and sleep. I don't know if I'll be able to find goulash like mom used to make here, though. ;)

Speaking of here, (marvel at the glorious seguay). It's warm here. I have converted my convertible pants into shorts. Many will go blind, but I won't stink so bad. This is a major consideration as before I got that shoe powder, my socks were so stinky, I didn't have to register them as lethal weapons. No government on earth would dare stand against them. Still, I had finally gotten comfortable going without sunscreen. I shall miss that. And there are more than a few walking sights here in Budapest. Luckily some of them are caves. :)

Also speaking of caves, I'm not so sure about this hostel "rated in the top ten by hostelworld users". The guy working there barely speaks, the free internet computer is hopelessly hosed, and he tried to charge me over twice what my bed is supposed to cost. We shall see.

Dan Brown's books are really good, but some of his religious history info is sketchy at best (especially in DaVinci Code). Still good reads.

And welcome to Hungary. I am glad it is warm there. It is raining here, but that is what you expect in California in Mid June. And congratulations on creating your own WMD. I will make sure to visit you in Gitmo.

Sucks about your hostel though. How much longer do you have in Budapest though?

Would you believe that 'SMRT' is word for death in Slovene too. Hehehe... But, in general, I think we use plenty of vowels:)

So, how do you like Hungarian words? I feel that even if I had a Hungarian dictionary there it wouldn't do me much good.:)

And isn't it great that after such longer wandering around we are actually looking forward to work:) I wish I could do this more often and recharge bateries that got drained at HP.

I have one news for you too:
I finally got a job offer from Intel in Arizona and it's a pretty good one so I am very happy. I don't think I will start working until late July when hopefully immigration paperwork is ready. Until then I will be getting ready to move, etc. I am so happy I can stay in the US though. Interestingly, while I received hardly any calls from companies two weeks before this offer, now suddenly everybody is calling me. Strange world.
So lesson to learn...
When you have bad luck it goes on for ever but once you get lucky there is no end to it.

I hope I get to see your slide show before I leave Roseville.

Yeah. I just read Angels and Demons as a thriller and left it at that.

Is it summer rain? You should have already had your one week of spring, if I recall correctly.

I handled the hostel and paid what I thought was right. The main gal who works here is way too busy. The guy who works here is kind of a lump. But he seems well intentioned.

Hungarian words seem to have a lot of extra symbols, but overall they look like words (as opposed to some czech which looked like someone mashing the keys on a typewriter).

I know what you mean about actually wanting to get back to work. Unfortunately my eighty days of vacationing will probably translate into about twenty days of wanting to work. ;)

I'm very happy for you finding more work in the US. I hope you get to see the slides before you leave, too. But if you don't, I can always visit Arizona (in the fall maybe). :)

Actually, Marjan. I wonder if some big statistics came out showing that US business is doing well, so everyone released hiring freezes at the same time? Hmmmmm.

Hi Blain,

You'll be stunned to know it's still SPRING here!!! It's hit the low 90s maybe four days in the last three months. I'm suffering from allergies but it's almost worth it for the wonderful weather. I doubt it will hold until you get back though. You'll probably step right into 100 degree days.

Love, Mom

P.S. Congrats, Marjan! That's great news. You won't get away from the heat but I'm happy you'll get to stay in the U.S.

Angels and Demons certainly had plenty of twists at the end, didn't it? I don't know if I'll bother reading the DaVinci Code. I'll just wait for Mike's DVD to come out. For those of you who don't know, my former co-worker and Joint Ops buddy Mike is working on a DVD about The DaVinci Code. It's already shaping up to be a cool project as he'll be flying around the globe (or at least across the pond) to interview noted scholars. Go Mike!

Wow. Spring in June. Who woulda thunk it? It couldn't possibly last until July. That would be just plain weird.
